Spring 2023 Stipend Opportunities

The Spring 2023 Stipend Program is now closed. We encourage you to still work through the Brightspace Fundamentals modules to get a solid foundation in using our new LMS.

There are two self-paced faculty development options available for stipends this spring: Brightspace Fundamentals training, and Cornell’s Teaching & Learning in the Diverse Classroom MOOC.  To participate in either (or both) of these options, you must:

  • fill out the form below to register your intent to participate in either of these programs,
  • complete the relevant activities for the program(s) you are interested in,
  • and submit evidence of your participation as described below, by the end of business day on April 28th.  (But sooner is better!)

Brightspace Fundamentals

If you have an instructor account on the system, when you log in to our Brightspace learning management system, in your “My Courses” widget, you will see:

  • the SUNY DLE Brightspace Fundamentals Asynchronous Modules course from the SUNY Center for Professional Development,
  • your personal sandbox course for your use in exploring Brightspace,
  • and your Fall 2023 course spaces.

To participate in this program:

  • Complete the SUNY DLE Brightspace Fundamentals Asynchronous Modules course including the module checks, to obtain your certificate of completion from SUNY Center for Professional Development.
  • Use your Brightspace sandbox to show that you know how to do these basic Brightspace tasks.
  • Forward to the TLTC (TLTC@purchase.edu) the email with your certificate information that you received from CPD, and include the link to your sandbox course where you have completed the basic Brightspace tasks - by April 28, 2023.

Stipend upon completion of the work by the deadline: $250.

Teaching and Learning in the Diverse Classroom

Cornell has developed their Teaching & Learning in the Diverse Classroom course for use with their faculty, and has made it available on the for self-paced exploration by anyone.

To participate in this program:

  • Sign up for the free version of the course on the edX platform.
  • Complete the five modules of the course by reading through the pages and viewing the associated videos.
  • Submit a single document containing your responses to the assignments for each of the five modules to the TLTC (TLTC@purchase.edu) by April 28th.

If you participated in last year’s Inclusive Teaching Cohorts, you’ve already been through this training and are not eligible for an additional stipend this year.

Stipend upon completion of the work by the deadline: $300.
