Tom Kelly
Senior Energy and Sustainability Manager
Tom Kelly has over 28 years’ energy and sustainability experience creating and managing institutional change for several organizations. Tom is Purchase College’s Senior Energy Manager, responsible for a variety of strategic decisions focused on policy, energy, waste, transportation, land use and green purchasing. Purchase College is part of the State University of New York, the largest comprehensive university system in the United States. The college is consistently recognized by the Princeton Review Green Colleges edition. Tom and his team are working to achieve a variety of state mandates most notably Executive Order 22 to transition to a net zero campus. Prior to Purchase College, Tom worked for an electric/gas utility working with large commercial/industrial customers on ways to reduce its energy consumption and partnering on demand response programs to ensure grid reliability along with implementing renewable energy projects in its territory. Tom also worked for an energy think writing policy for the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority and the U.S. Department of Energy focused primarily on cogeneration, microgrids and utility resilience. Finally, he was energy and sustainability manager for a large hospital with close to 200 locations.
