Emily Tejada
Experiential Learning Coordinator/Career Counselor
Emily discovered her passion of wanting to help guide and support students, in navigating and exploring careers, as a previous Career Counseling Graduate Intern and Career Center Administrative Assistant at SUNY New Paltz. Emily assists students in assessing their interests, exploring career possibilities, and achieving their career and educational goals. Emily also supports both internship development and facilitating grant awards including the Purchase Academic Internship Stipend (PAIS) and Travel Grant.
Emily’s educational background in social justice has equipped her to assist college students in navigating the job market and overcoming disparities and barriers. Emily’s former experience connecting patients to resources, as a Care Navigator, has granted her knowledge on how to assess and assist individuals in defining barriers and working together to find avenues of support that can help them meet their goals. Emily has used her past experience to help students find the right resources and develop the proper skills to help them navigate finding internships, jobs, graduate programs, and other career opportunities.
