Sam Wolkow ’15

Sam Wolkow finds the acting training incredibly useful in both of his career pursuits. By day, he’s an audiobook director for leading publishers.

“This requires the ability to read and interpret a script on the fly, read IPA [International Phonetic Alphabet] and communicate it to actors—I’m indebted entirely to former Purchase professor Leigh Dillon ’79 for this—speak with and direct actors efficiently and sensitively, and more. Purchase equipped me with the skills to do well at the job.”

And he’s excited about his music career, writing original music and performing as Sammy Volkov. “I’m proud of what I’ve produced musically, and there’s a lot more to come!” His debut full-length album, Be Alright!, was released in December 2022.
