Ta’Neesha Murphy ’21

Ta’Neesha Murphy ’21 joined Lauren F. Walker ’15 and Alicia Pilgrim ’20 in The Public Theatre’s world-premiere production of Cullud Wattah by Erika Dickerson-Despenza and directed by Candis C. Jones in the fall of 2021.

Murphy also appeared on the season two premiere of Terence Nance’s Random Acts of Flyness on HBO.

Murphy is from Washington, D.C., the home of go-go music and mumbo sauce. She started acting at age 11 and attended Duke Ellington Schools of the Arts before attending Purchase to further hone her love for acting while also expanding her love for movement.

She also found a love for learning Korean while living on campus, which helped develop her excitement for trying new things and making mistakes in order to become better.

She strives to make art that is both cathartic and exciting for her audience.
