Shayan Sobhian ’17

Shayan Sobhian ’17 is an actor and musician originally from Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

In the fall of 2022, he played the role of Anthony Hope in Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at The Company Theatre in Boston.

He’s best known for playing Behrad Tarazi, one of the first Iranian-American superheroes, on the time-traveling CW show, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow for seven seasons.

In the role, Sobhian chameleoned his way through the diverse worlds of the wild west, Downton Abbey, Wall Street, Chernobyl, WWI, Cuban missile crisis, 90s sitcom, prohibition-era gangsters, 18th century France, punk rock, and even outer-space.

In 2019, Shayan starred as Apostle James the Greater in the first season of the Chosen, which has since been viewed nearly 400 million times.

Sobhian performed on stage as Syrian revolutionary, Sami, in the New York production of Lost and Guided, and later in Los Angeles as dreamy monk, Abhaya, in Nathaniel Quinn: Filmmaker.

In 2022, he starred in the fantasy short, Does Bigfoot Dream of Flowers, which he co-wrote and produced.
