ENV hosting Jules Roth Scholar Feb 2026
This semester, the Environmental Studies department is happy to host Dr. Matthew Ramirez as a two-day scholar in residence through the Jules Roth Scholar Program.
Dr. Ramirez is a professor at UNC Wilmington in North Carolina. His research explores how natural and human-driven stressors shape marine populations and food webs, often using sea turtles and other marine vertebrates as model systems.
Dr. Ramirez will be giving a lecture open to the public on Thursday Feb 12th at 5pm about this work on sea turtles. He will then guest lecture in the Conservation Biology class on Friday February 13th, teaching about protected marine areas.
We are so excited to have this scholar on campus!
