Professor Liya Palagashvili Named Forbes 30 Under 30
Palagashvili’s research focuses on regulation, entrepreneurship, and the effect of foreign and federal aid on governmental structures. She’s also interested in self-governing communities and transitional economies in Eastern Europe.
She has published in academic journals and in major media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, Philadelphia Inquirer, and U.S. News and World Report.
And she is working on a book analyzing the response to the 2008 financial crisis and the regulations imposed in its aftermath.
Palagashvili, 27, joined the faculty in 2015 after completing her PhD at George Mason University, where she also earned her BS and MA degrees in economics. Prior to her arrival at Purchase, she’d been a Law and Economics Fellow with the Classical Liberal Institute at New York University School of Law, and also a Bradley Fellow with the NYU Department of Economics.
