Tamisha Guy ’13 Earns Vilcek Prize

The $50k award acknowledges Guy’s creative promise.

Tamisha Guy ’13 received a 2022 Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Dance “for her evocative and intuitive performance style that blends elements of contemporary, modern, and narrative dance traditions, and for her commitment to furthering her own practice through instruction, collaboration, and mentorship.” Guy is currently a lecturer in the Conservatory of Dance.

The Vilcek Foundation Prizes in Dance are awarded to immigrant dancers, choreographers, and artistic directors, recognizing the importance of immigrants’ contributions to intellectual and cultural life in the United States. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Guy moved to the US when she was ten years old.

The 2022 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in Dance are awarded to young foreign-born dance and movement artists living and working in the United States. Recipients are selected for the professional rigor and aesthetic quality of their work.
