Senior Project by Caleb Dowden ’21 Performed in Manhattan
Caleb Dowden ’21 created As the Sun Sets while at Purchase as a way to cope with the research she was conducting at the time on Sundown Towns.
“I needed a creative outlet for the research I was learning, because, at the time, I was struggling with the idea that I could step into a space, and because of my skin color, my body could be a target.”
Dowden is the the Founder and Artistic Director of Dow-Dance Company. As the Sun Sets was showcased at the New Ohio Theatre’s ICE Factory Festival.
Dowden was also the winner of a Fulbright scholarship and a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence. Read more about Dowden and her accomplishments.
