Wayback is LEED Silver Certified

The Wayback Residence Hall, completed in August 2019, received its official LEED Silver Certification.

This week, the Green Business Certification Incorporated (GBCI), an organization that provides credentialing and verification for built environment rating systems, informed the college that Wayback has officially earned LEED Silver. GBCI, supported by the US Green Building Council, administers the LEED certification program, performing third-party technical reviews and verification of LEED-registered projects to determine if they have met the standards set forth by the LEED rating system.

LEED certification involves four main steps:

  1. Construction or renovation project is registered to the US Green Building Council by completing key forms and submitting payment.
  2. Project team applies for LEED certification by submitting the completed certification application and paying a certification review fee.
  3. The LEED application is reviewed by GBCI.
  4. GBCI makes the certification decision and informs project team of outcome.

The final review of Wayback came back with no comments or revisions needed and was given a rating of “Excellent” for the documentation.
