Confounded Arch Earns the President’s Award

Erica Raso ’16 was selected as the recipient of the President’s Award for Public Art for 2016–17.

Her steel and concrete sculpture, Confounded Arch, is on view on the West Loop.

“I believe my responsibility as an artist is to instill a sense of meaning in my work and attempt to create an awareness of the social and economic decline of my environment,” Raso says.

Created seven years ago, the President’s Award for Public Art is annual competition is open to all Purchase students regardless of their major and provides the means and support to display their art on campus. The selected project remains on view for up to one year.
