Claribel Ortega ’10 (journalism) has written a middle grade novel (for grades 3–8), Ghost Squad, published today by Scholastic. It was also announced recently that Oscar-winning director Brenda Chapman, the first woman to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for Brave, will write and direct a live-action hybrid feature based on the book.

Goodreads.com describes the book as “Coco meets Stranger Things with a hint of Ghostbusters in this action-packed supernatural fantasy.”

At Purchase, Ortega got her start editing the back page of the now defunct Purchase Indy.
