Students Walk Out
A crowd gathered on the mall for 17 minutes to protest gun violence.
At 10am this morning, students streamed onto the main plaza from multiple buildings to participate in the national protest movement against gun violence.
More than 125 students, faculty, staff, and administrators gathered for 17 minutes in remembrance of the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL last month.
The final minute was spent in silence, then Chief of Police Dayton Tucker assured the crowd his officers have received training to keep the community safe and encouraged all attendees, “if you seem something, say something.”
