Don’t Miss the 3/18 Job & Internship Fair and Prep Events!
Be prepared and learn how to get the most out of the upcoming Job Fair.
Join us on Wednesday, March 18th, from 11:30 am–2:30 pm at the Performing Arts Center for the Job & Internship Fair to meet with employers and find your next job or internship! The fair will be held in the Upper Lobby of the PAC (attendees can enter across from the Music Building).
Let us help you before the fair at our Fair and Professional Prep Day (3/11, 12–2 pm, Student Services) and the Know Before You Go workshop (3/16, 4:00–5:00 pm, Teams)
Here are some quick tips.
Do Your Research
It is helpful to know which employers you are interested in and to have some knowledge of those specific organizations. You can even prepare some questions in advance. Be sure to view who is currently attending, learn about their opportunities, and RSVP for the Fair!
Update Your Resume
Remember that your resume should be clear, concise, and up to date. Make sure your resume is ready! Stop by Fair and Professional Prep Day on 3/11 from 12 - 2pm for a review. You can also join our drop-in hours, schedule a meeting with a career counselor, or email career.development@purchase.edu for a resume critique and other helpful tips. Be sure to RSVP to the fair with your resume and bring copies to the fair!
Dress to Impress
Dress in “smart casual” attire – neat jeans, khakis, pants, skirt, dress; collared shirt, blouse, sweater, blazer, and nice shoes. (suits are also welcome!) Remember that you want to make a good first impression!
Join us for our “Professional Closet” during Fair and Professional Prep Day and walk away with some professional clothing for the fair and beyond! If you miss prep day, stop by the Career Center before the fair to access the professional closet.
Prepare Your Pitch
Prepare to share your interests, education, skills/competencies, and future goals with employers. While you do not want to sound scripted, you want to be prepared to effectively introduce yourself. A career counselor could help you to further polish your pitch. You can get tips at Fair and Professional Prep Day or practice at our Know Before You Go workshop.
Follow-Up
Collect any business cards/contact details and information that you may want to refer back to later. Make sure to follow-up with prospective employers you have met. You might just land your next opportunity!
