Celebrating International Women’s Day with Madonna

Three students appear in Madonna’s short film Her-Story

Libby Lou Larkin ’17 (theatre and performance), and dance majors Baylie Olsen ’19 and McCall Taylor Olsen ’20 celebrated International Women’s Day in remarkable fashion—by appearing in Her-Story, the 12 minute short film Madonna released in celebration of the day.

In the film, which Madonna “dedicated to all women who fight for freedom,”  Larkin sang her original music. “I was lucky enough to receive the opportunity to perform my new single Billy Goat in a video for German Vogue starring the absolutely iconic Madonna,” Larkin posts on Facebook.

Baylie Olsen and McCall Taylor Olsen both appeared in several segments where movement and music advanced the narrative about femininity and resistance, which concludes with the message “Women’s rights are human rights” scrawled on screen.

The film was made for Vogue Germany and directed by Luigi & Iango.
