Please share with us what the Elephant Tree meant to you during your time at Purchase. Share your memories, stories, and/or your photos.
The beloved Copper Beech tree that has provided so much to those who’ve gathered under her branches over the years has reached the end of life. Despite efforts to save the tree, infestations and tree disease, coupled with old age and stress caused by drought and defoliation have weakened the tree past the point of no return.
As the tree continues its rapid decline, there is an increased risk of limbs falling. Therefore, it will need to be removed for the safety of the campus.
We’re going to honor the tree in an upcoming issue of PURCHASE magazine and we welcome your input.
