At my Internship at NYPIRG, I helped with student advocacy for the issue in focus for the Spring Semester, that being Higher Education. I did this by advocating for fully funded SUNY and CUNY schools in Albany, making calls to elected officials, and convincing other students on Campus why they should get involved with NYPIRG. I also attended all of the events hosted by NYPIRG, including the NYPIRG Kickoff, Higher Education Day, and the NYPIRG Student Empowerment Conference. In this internship, I learned how to emphasize the importance of issues in my speeches and how to properly advocate for change at my college. I also learned how to put pressure on elected officials in my calls to continue advocacy for Higher Education and other important issues the State of New York faces.
