Zion James

Zion James (Professionally Zion dé Cielo) is an indie filmmaker and screenwriter from The Bronx, New York, whose work is deeply influenced by their Afro-Latinx identity. With a strong foundation in writing and a cinematic eye, Zion focuses on visually rich, emotionally resonant storytelling that explores the human experience through various forms of entertainment. Their filmmaking and production style blends thoughtful narrative construction with immersive audio design, drawing on their training in sound production and soundtrack curation. Their debut short film, “Backseat Driver” (2026), completed post-production in April 2025 and is currently circulating film festivals with an online release to follow.
