Shawn Kaufman ’96

Shawn Kaufman ’96 is an Emmy-nominated lighting designer with over 20 years of international experience in television, fashion, special events, theatre, opera, experiential and ephemeral design.

Kaufman is currently lighting director at the Drew Barrymore show and has worked as lighting designer for the Harry Connick Jr TV show. He’s received Emmy® nominations at both.

Recent projects include Netflix Playlist: The Harder They Fall featuring the Roots. Kaufman has worked at Glimmerglass Opera, New York City Opera with productions in New York and Hong Kong, fashion shows for clients Tom Ford, Zimmermann, Christian Siriano, Porsche, Tag Heuer, Zac Posen, Marchesa, Greg Lauren, Isabel Marant, Céline, Givenchy, Chloe, Public School.

Projects also include events for the Wexner Foundation, the Wexner Center, QVC, MTV, CBS, Phillips Auction House, Tiffany, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Estee Lauder, Kohl’s, Armani Exchange, Vogue Magazine, St. John, Bombardier, Target, GQ, Hermes, Y3, The Elder Statesman, Microsoft, Ivanka Trump, Moncler, Halston, Macy’s, Lands End, the Gap, Rockefeller Center, Zegna, Oxygen Network, Hugo Boss.

TV projects include Project Runway, the QVC Red Carpet Style Oscars show, The Face Finale, CNBC’s studio re-light, Wendy Williams (Fox Network), The Apprentice Martha Stewart, Martha Live and Rachael Ray Live.

Projects have included events throughout the United States as well as projects in London, Paris, Turkey, Spain, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Germany.
