Joshua Correa ’10

Joshua Correa ’10 is the Principal Technical Designer and owner of Ibex Innovation, LLC.

After graduation, Correa moved to Pennsylvania, where he worked at Tait Towers, a market leader in the design engineering and fabrication of staging for the concert touring industry.

He was quickly promoted to Lead Technical Designer for their scenic and video products, where his responsibilities included directing the engineering design of structural support systems for touring LED arrays.

Deciding to return to New York, Correa worked at Showman Fabricators, a large fabricator of broadcast television scenery and bespoke interiors, where he frequently applied his acumen to the company’s most ambitious projects. Other work experience at licensed engineering firms, theatre companies, and as a fabricator has allowed him to speak many languages and effectively collaborate with all the players in a project.

Correa founded Ibex Innovation in 2015 and has overseen its growth to a team of four with a broad range of technical expertise across the spectrum of specialty engineering design and fabrication.

Ibex Innovation is a Technical Design firm focusing on the entertainment and architecture industries. Ibex is known for its skill in the engineering design of complex LED tile array support structures, custom tracking monitor/LED tile systems, bespoke furnishings, curvilinear lightboxes, and related structural elements.

In addition to significant technical abilities, Ibex’s team is accomplished at working within the time constraints typical of interdisciplinary projects and coordinating with technology vendors, contractors, graphic artists, architects, designers, and other team members to meet a project’s goals.

Projects of note for Ibex include:

• the large LED array in the “forum” room at Apple’s Williamsburg location
• Swarovski’s 2018 freestanding retail pop-up on Rockefeller Plaza, designed by Daniel Libeskind
• the LED video wall for the Houston Rodeo, which features 168 moving video tiles atop a self-driving and rotating stage
• the Kilroy Stars
• the 94th Academy Awards

Ibex also collaborates on various large-scale public art projects such as Gertie’s Ghost in Tacoma, Washington, Unison’s Welcome Tower installation in San Francisco, the Elektra Dragon Art Car, and the Capitol Theater Art Car, which was exhibited in 2018 at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
