Parade Stone ’17

Parade Stone ’17 is a biracial Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary theatre artist and freelance writer. Stone is currently enrolled in the Dramatic Writing MFA program at NYU.

She has directed and produced original works in cities throughout the US. Her writing traverses genres, from academic, to playwriting, to copywriting.

Her recent theatrical writings include her short play “Ghost Light,” presented in At Home Artists Project’s Short Play Festival, as well as her play “Cupid’s Corner” presented by the Star is Bored podcast as a fundraiser for the Equal Justice Initiative. “Cupid’s Corner” has earned her a nomination for the OffWestEnd Awards in the UK. Additional works include In the Same Space (Dixon Place and Williamstown Theatre Festival), and her original musical, Recipe for a Sellout(Book & Lyrics, Wild Project). ​

As a writer, her portfolio is diverse. She writes freelance SEO content for SEO Butler as well as copy for the up-and-coming neuroscience program for teens, the Level Up Protocol. Additionally, she presented her essay, “Linguistic Theatricality: Translations of Phenomenological Experience of Desire in Julia Cho’s The Language Archive,” at the Philadelphia Theatre Research Symposium in May 2019.

At Purchase, Stone earned the faculty-issued Outstanding Theatre and Performance Senior Award and the  graduating magna cum laude.
