Lauren DeLeon ’18
Lauren DeLeon ’18 is a leader in the new field of intimacy direction for stage and film.
DeLeon is an American-Uruguayan intimacy director and coordinator, teaching artist, and director from Miami, Florida.
Intimacy workshop credits include our own conservatory programs, Washington Improv Theatre, NYU Tisch Applied Theatre Convergence, The Fled Collective, NYU Film (Intro. to Intimacy Coordination), The American Academy for Dramatic Arts, Sarah Lawrence College, and others.
At Purchase, DeLeon directed many productions in support of organizations, including Planned Parenthood, My Sister’s Place, Standing Rock, and a non-profit she helped co-found called Mission Flint that partnered with The Public Theatre on Erika Dickerson-Despenza’s play Cullud Wattah.
DeLeon serves as Director of Community Education at IDC Professionals. Lauren is an on-call, backup intimacy coordinator for Law and Order SVU.
Previously, DeLeon served as the Individual Giving Associate at Manhattan Theatre Club, the Development Assistant at The Lark Theatre, a Resident Director at The Flea, and a member of Roundabout Theatre’s 2019-20 Emerging Directors Group.
DeLeon is an adjunct graduate faculty member at Sarah Lawrence College teaching Intimacy in Performance. She is a teaching artist with IDC Professionals and is also training to be an instructor for the Level 3 intimacy direction course. She holds a Master’s degree in Performance Studies from NYU with a thesis on Decolonizing Touch through Intimacy Direction.
DeLeon returns to Purchase to teach the Theatre and Performance class Consent in Performance.
