Dayton Tucker

Chief of New York State University Police

Dayton Tucker (he/his/him) was appointed Chief of the State University Police force here at Purchase College in 2015. He began his career with the State University Police in 2004 serving as a Police Officer at the Downstate Medical Center Command. At Downstate he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and lead the departments community services initiative.

As the Chief of Police he is responsible for the daily operations of our Police force. His additional duties include the oversite of emergency management and physical security. His accomplishments include advancing the departments training, technology and transparency. The department has been recognized for innovative events that provide opportunities for police and community Interaction. Chief Tucker is the recipient of the 2013 Purchase College President’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service and the 2017 SUNY Police Chiefs Association Michael Bailey Leadership Award.

He is a graduate of the New York City Police Academy and holds a BA from the College of New Rochelle.
