Disney’s Matt Conover ’88 Named Head of RWS Global Productions

A skilled creative executive who captured Disney magic for three decades will oversee RWS Global live entertainment.

A graduate with a BFA in Technical Theatre, Conover will lead strategy and company-wide execution at RWS Global, a producer of groundbreaking live moments and customized guest experiences spanning theatrical productions, live events, immersive destinations, multimedia and consumer products.

Conover will work closely with creative, business, and operational teams servicing clients including Apple, Coca-Cola, Crayola, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, Six Flags, Warner Bros., The Lion King on Broadway, Chicago the Musical, and a Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes.

At Walt Disney World, Conover turned his passion for theater into a lifelong career.  Starting as a stage technician, he achieved leadership roles at Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney Imagineering. His productions have been seen in the U.S., Asia, and Europe. As Vice President of Live Entertainment at Disneyland Resort, he led more than 400 producers, directors, designers, and technical professionals. He has also contributed to two Super Bowl halftime shows and the NBA All-Star Game.

Conover’s training at the Conservatory of Theater Arts paved the way for a lifelong connection to creative live experiences, more important today than ever.

“The future of live entertainment is to connect with people where they are. We can now access so much on just our personal devices that we’ve got to create experiences that people can only get in person.

“After 37 years in this business, it’s always about the storytelling. It doesn’t matter if you’re in technical, production, or creative, it is really about bringing the story to life.”

He will be based at RWS Global’s New York City headquarters.
