Aracelie Aarie Colón ’25 Receives Filmmaking Grant from National Board of Review

The recent grad received a grant from the National Board of Review for her documentary short, Puff Puff Pass, an intimate look at the Black lives impacted by the legal and cultural history of the now-legal cannabis industry.

The National Board of Review Student Grant Program helps young filmmakers finish their projects and exhibit them around the world at festivals including Sundance, Slamdance, Telluride, and New Directors/New Films.

The organization has assisted 10 Purchase alumni in the making of their films since 2006.

“I’m incredibly grateful for my time at Purchase College,” says Aarie Colón.

“Throughout the film program, I’ve had the chance to collaborate with talented filmmakers and connect with mentors who’ve greatly influenced my growth.”

Many past grant recipients have also won Student Academy Awards.
