Dian Petrillo Endowed Fund for Student Success

New scholarship fund honors the memory of Petrillo and her work on student success.

Students studying abroad Carl Petrillo founded the Dian Petrillo Endowed Fund for Student Success in honor of his late wife, Dian Petrillo. During Dian Petrillo’s tenure at Purchase College, she demonstrated energetic support of underserved students and passionate dedication to student success. A trustee on the Purchase College Foundation board beginning in 2001, she served on the Student Success Committee from 2014 until her death in 2018, and served as its Chairperson from 2016 until 2018.

The Student Success Committee provided a forum for Purchase College Foundation board members to become familiar with barriers students encounter in their goal toward obtaining a college degree. With this knowledge, the Student Success Committee members serve as ambassadors, philanthropists, and stewards of Purchase College student success initiatives.

The Dian Petrillo Endowed Fund for Student Success will support student success through two areas of importance to the Student Success Committee: the Make an Impact Fund and the International Study Assistance Fund. Removing barriers to access is a fundamental value of Purchase College. And whether it’s providing emergency funds to students in crisis who might otherwise need to drop out, or providing funds to allow students the opportunity to study abroad who in other circumstances would need to prioritize working, the Petrillo Fund is the epitome of Purchase College ideals.
