The George Floyd Trustee Scholarship

Scholarship will award efforts in civic engagement and social justice.

Students gather on campus; one raises fist Last summer, the Purchase College Foundation Board of Trustees felt compelled to illustrate in a lasting way its belief in the Purchase credo to Think Wide Open and to demonstrate to the greater Purchase community of students, faculty, staff, and alumni its dedication to that ideal.

The Purchase College Foundation has dedicated $100,000 of its assets to establish an endowed fund to be named The George Perry Floyd, Jr. Trustee Scholar for Civic Engagement and Social Justice.

This scholarship will be awarded to a rising senior who is a first generation college student with demonstrated financial need. A candidate will be nominated by faculty and staff in a process that will detail the nominee’s activity, commitment, and leadership in the areas of civic engagement and social justice.

This quasi-endowed fund will also accept gifts from additional donors and the scholarship can be awarded to additional students when the fund revenue generates sufficient income .
