Vocalist Lucy Wijnands ’20 Finalist in Prestigious Competition
The competition is held by the Blues Alley Jazz Society (BAJS), which is the nonprofit jazz education arm of the legendary Washington, DC jazz club, the Blues Alley Jazz Club.
The competition celebrates jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald, known as “The First Lady of American Song,” by requiring participants to sing to arrangements from classic Fitzgerald recordings.
“Attending Purchase was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made! Its proximity to the city and the kindness within the faculty is what makes me feel incredibly grateful,” says Wijnands. Read more about Lucy Wijnands here.
The competition, originally scheduled for April 25, will now be held on October 10.
