5 Shocking Culture Shock Performers
It’s springtime at Purchase. That means one thing: Culture Shock.
What started as April Showers in the late ’80s morphed into Culture Shock in 1993, a completely student-run music festival, carnival, and food truck fest.
While it first began as a showcase for Purchase bands, it quickly grew into the concert to attend. Its PSGA organizers have demonstrated a knack for choosing performers on the verge of breaking out.
Below are five artists who you might be surprised to know performed at Culture Shock.
Below are some alumni and alumni bands who have played Culture Shock over the years.
- Regina Spektor ’01
- Langhorne Slim (Sean Scolnick) ’03
- Dan Deacon ’04 (also 2004, 2005, 2006)
- Jenny Owen Youngs ’04
- Mitski ’13
- Field Mouse
