Alumni Weekend 2019
“What a fantastic turnout again this year!” says Kevin Collymore ’10 (political science), president of the Purchase College Alumni Association, as he welcomed alumni, faculty, staff, and guests to Alumni Weekend 2019.
“We are well on our way to building a strong alumni network.”
The Purchase College Alumni Association hosted the third annual Alumni Weekend on May 3 and 4, 2019. Hundreds of alumni, retired faculty and administrators, and current faculty, staff, and students took part.
Alumni representing 42 class years, 17 states, and one long-distance traveler from Northern Ireland “came home” to their alma mater to participate in class reunions and a full range of fun programs.
The jam-packed weekend was filled with more than 20 social events, campus tours, lectures and symposiums, exhibitions, and performances. A major highlight was the all-alumni Night of Reunions, which celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Class of 1979 and honored the Classes of 2014, 2009, 1999, and 1989.
Collymore honored retiring President Thomas J. Schwarz with the traditional Golden Brick Award and welcomed him as an Honorary Alum.
Class of ’79 ambassadors Bob Kahan and Paula Cancro reminisced about their time at Purchase, the unique connection between all of the Classes of the 70s, and the importance of building a connection between older alumni and younger, recent graduates.
DJ Eric Burgos ’10 (sociology) kept everyone on the dance floor. A Pancake Madness After Party in D-Hall followed.
Mark your calendars now for May 1 and 2, 2020 for a celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the Class of 1975, the 40th Anniversary of the Class of 1980, and the Classes of 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015.
