Raaisha Castro, ’16 Latin American Studies
“Since graduation, I’m not going to lie or hide behind the fact that the first months were hard. I was very sad to leave my learning sanctuary of so many years to start fresh somewhere else. Finding a job took a while, but exactly six months after graduation, I finally received an offer.
I am now happily employed at Benchmark Education Company in New Rochelle. It is an Academic Children’s Publishing company that focuses on K-6 teaching materials and leveled texts for young readers.
My current role at my company is as the Publishing Administrative Assistant, though I also double as a Content Creation Assistant in which I help edit materials in English and Spanish for digital and print components.
My journey to graduate from Purchase was long, dreadful at times, and scary. But I gained things I could have never imagined. Not only career wise, but emotionally. Where once lived doubt, now lives confidence. And I look forward to many exciting endeavors in my career and am happy to say, it all started at SUNY Purchase.”
