Course Description:
Focuses on the history of Latinxs in urban centers across the U.S. and Latin America. Students explore how Latinxs established and maintained distinctive social and cultural identities in the Americas. The historical definition of “Latinidad” is also discussed through the study of colonization, immigration, diaspora, globalization, and the history of the racialization of Latin American descendants.
