Call for Days of Action and Dialogue Proposals

Time

Save the Date

Based on last year’s Days of Action and Dialogue, and in anticipation of the 2018 US elections, we are planning a campus-wide week of action, service, and dialogue, taking place October 29-November 7, 2018. We are soliciting proposals for off-campus volunteer events, as well as curricular and classroom-based events taking place on campus that could be open to the Purchase or off-campus community. Through action, we are hoping to create much-needed dialogue across a wide set of beliefs and to engage civically.

These events should come from the Purchase community, and should rely on personal expertise and passions. They can be large or very small and intimate in scale. Events can be lectures, workshops, screenings, performances, teach-ins, conversations, presentations, charrettes, community actions, etc. Make something for someone in need. Get together and have a difficult conversation. Screen a film. Do something.

FACULTY: As you plan your syllabi for the semester, consider using that week to hold public lectures, a hands-on workshop, organize a service opportunity, or anything that addresses issues of civic engagement or social justice.

STAFF: You know the school, students, and the campus needs very well. Perhaps you and/or colleagues in your campus office can organize something that takes place outside of the classroom.

STUDENTS: Consider collaborating with staff, faculty, or other students on an event, work with a campus club or organization, or plan something yourself, big or small.

We will collect all submissions, create a master list of events happening that week, and publicize the Days of Action & Dialogue.
