Betsy Aldredge
Interim Chief of Staff
Betsy Aldredge is currently the Interim Chief of Staff at Purchase College. Previously, she served as the Assistant Director of Public Relations in the department of Communications & Creative Services where she oversaw press relations, crisis communications, and social media, among other internal and external messaging. She has also served as an adjunct instructor in the Communications program where she taught Strategic Message Design; as President of the Professional Staff Council; and as a member of the Bias Response Team.
Prior to arriving at Purchase 11 years ago, she was the Director of Media Relations and a member of the senior staff at the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust for more than 9 years where she engaged in strategic planning and oversaw and implemented comprehensive media strategies for exhibits, programs, and educational initiatives.
In the previous years, she was an arts journalist, having spent time as associate editor of Museums Magazine and assistant editor of Opera News Magazine.
In her free time, she volunteers with a dog rescue organization and is a young adult novelist. Her debut, Sasquatch, Love, and Other Imaginary Things, was published by Simon & Schuster in August 2017. Her latest book is Eight Dates and Nights, was published by Penguin Random House in October 2023.
She holds a BFA in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Communications from the University at Albany.
