Jason Lyons ’99

Jason Lyons is a lighting director whose credits include nearly 80 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, as well as dozens of regional and touring stage performances.

Lyons’ lighting experience is eclectic, ranging from dark and dramatic to excitingly cinematic. Some of his recent theatre productions: the Broadway revival of On the Town, Bring It On, The Musical (Broadway & National Tour), Rock Of Ages (Broadway, National Tour, Australia, London & Vegas), The Asian Tour of Jay Chou’s The Secret, and the hit dark comedy Hand to God. Arena productions include The So You Think You Can Dance 2011 National Tour.

Lyons has also designed special events for such organizations as Joe Torre’s Safe At Home Foundation (over the years featuring Mariah Carey, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, and Garth Brooks), Project ALS (featuring Jennifer Hudson), and Friends In Deed (featuring Elvis Costello). Corporate Clients have included Lifetime Television, AIG, United Brewers, Pfizer, Sony, and The United Nations.

He was selected by Entertainment Design Magazine as one of the “Designers to Watch” in 2003. Lyons received the Jeff Award for Best Lighting in 2011 and has been nominated for both a Lucile Lortel Award and a Drama Desk Award.
