Suzannah Kincannon

Lecturer in Physical Education

Suzannah Kincannon grew up listening to her mother practice piano, a classically trained pianist, who, at the time, was getting her master’s degree at Virginia State College. Thus started her love of dance in the living room of their home.

More About Me

Suzannah trained in the Royal Academy of Ballet intensive syllabus in Western, MA at an early age for 10 years. She moved to NYC to study Dance and Liberal Arts at Hunter College and quickly found her calling in the vibrancy of Afro Haitian, West African, and Afro Brazilian dance styles. She performed with several companies throughout the years before being invited to teach in Austin, TX, teaching West African dance and co-creating a Dance and Drum company, Lannaya, with a drummer from Guinea, West Africa. Eventually she moved back to New York and continued teaching at Purchase College. After including Zumba in her teaching repertoire, the syllabus introduced her to Salsa dance, and she knew she had to do a deeper exploration. She fell in love with the fast-paced, high energy and social structure of Salsa Dance and especially with the African, Cuban and Jazz influenced music of Salsa. She has 27 years of teaching experience. She has created welcoming classes of all levels with every student being encouraged to dance to their personal ability. It is a lifelong passion that she loves to share with students of all ages and levels.
