Statement on Violence in Georgia

Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the 8 individuals who were murdered in the Atlanta area yesterday, and to the entire Asian community on our campus and in our country.

While law enforcement hasn’t confirmed a motive, we know that anti-Asian hate crimes have been on the rise and that these disgusting acts may very well be related to increased incidents of radicalization, domestic terrorism, and white supremacist activity.

As we wait for more information and to learn about the lives of those who were lost, let’s join together to denounce hatred and acts of violence against the Asian community, and all other communities who have been targeted.

For those who need support at this time, we urge you to reach out to Counseling. Whether you are on campus or off, these services are available to you.

Stay safe and take care of each other.
