What to Expect

Parent Orientation is two days of fast-paced programming designed to introduce new parents to campus life, resources on and off campus, academics and to also meet faculty, staff, and other parents!  It's a lot of information, but we also try to make it fun!

During Orientation, parents may have a lot of questions.  Our 23 Orientation Leaders (OLs) are there to help!  The OL will answer any questions that parents have about Purchase and also will help parents get acquainted with the campus and the Orientation program.

Students and Parents should plan to check in between 8:30am-10:00am on their designated date.  There will be signs around campus directing you to check-in at the Performing Arts Center.  The Orientation concludes by 12:00pm on the second day.

**We highly recommend that if you do not have any last-minute business to attend to before orientation begins, that you do not arrive until after 9:00am to check in.**

Lunch, dinner and snacks are provided on the first day of Orientation.  Continental breakfast only is provided on the second day of Orientation.  If you have special dietary needs, please contact us to make special arrangements

What Parents are Saying about Parent Orientation...

"Orientation was a success for us. Our daughter met new people. She was interactive and she is very excited about Purchase. We have a better feel for the types of professors and administrations you have. We are confident this experience will be excellent for all involved. We thank Purchase for the Orientation Leaders. They were excellent."

"The best part of Orientation was listening to the faculty explaining how they want to teach my child and help her reach her potential."

"More than met my expectations.  Excellent Orientation program."

"The Orientation was so helpful and beyond what I expected.  I am thrilled that my son will be attending Purchase.  I saw him several times in passing on Friday and the joy in his face made me cry."

"The Orientation staff was very friendly & helpful."

"Based on the Orientation, it seems to be a terrific opportunity to learn and grow with lots of resources, surprisingly nurturing atmosphere, especially for a state school."

"The Orientation exceeded my highest expectations--from the very moment I arrived-when two incredibly smiling and friendly students in lime green T-shirts enthusiastically pointed us in the right direction to the Orientation parking lot and registration.  Things got even better as the program unfolded.  The Orientation was extremely informative, but the caring atmosphere you create was the real introduction to SUNY Purchase-I know my 'student' is in very good hands, and it is up to her to make the best use of the resources at hand-with the gentle and caring guidance from the staff."
