The 25th Annual Purchase College Natural and Social Sciences Student Symposium was supported by a $5,000 grant from Con Edison.
Since 1981, this annual event has provided a forum for the presentation of scientific research. The program is unique at Purchase for it allows undergraduate students to report on their research in much the same way scientists from major research laboratories do at national conferences. Unlike larger institutions where undergraduates seldom work one-on one with senior scientists, Purchase students work closely with faculty members on original research, which they complete for their Senior Thesis. Students also may have opportunities to present their findings at national scientific meetings and also publish their results in scientific journals.
