Hunter Hollingsworth ’22 Makes Broadway Debut

Hollingsworth is a swing in the groundbreaking new show How to Dance in Ohio.

Hunter Hollingsworth ‘22 (Theatre and Performance) recently made his Broadway debut in the new musical How to Dance in Ohio as a swing. (*A swing is responsible for preparing to understudy several ensemble roles.)

Based on a 2015 documentary, How To Dance in Ohio tells the true story of seven autistic young people as they prepare for a spring dance. It’s groundbreaking not only for its content, but for its casting as well—all the roles are portrayed by actors on the spectrum.

According to Associate Professor of Theatre and Performance Rachel Dickstein, Hollingsworth focused his senior thesis on creating opportunities in musical theatre for actors on the spectrum when he created and performed the lead in Hunter X. Hollingsworth & Friends: Who Tells Your Story?

“It’s brilliant that just over a year after graduating, he joined this show doing just that on Broadway!”

An actor, singer, and performer from Mount Vernon, NY, Hollingsworth’s recent work includes Off-Broadway productions and gigs across Manhattan, including making the finale of Amateur Night at the Apollo.
