Dr. Davidson is internationally renowned for his research on the neural substrates of emotion and emotional disorders. At Wisconsin he serves as the Sigma Xi Distinguished Lecturer, the Vilas Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry, and is Director of the W.M. Keck Laboratory for Functional Brain Imaging and Behavior, and the Laboratory for Affective Neuroscience. Dr. Davidson received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in Psychology, taught at Purchase College from 1976-1984, and has been at Wisconsin since 1984. He has published more than 250 articles, many chapters and reviews and has edited 12 books. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his research and is currently the Founding Co-editor of the American Psychological Association journal EMOTION. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society. In 2001-02 he served on the National Academy of Science Panel to evaluate the validity of the polygraph. In 2003 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
