The program features Mozart’s "The Impressario: Overture, K. 486" and "Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, K. 467," featuring Professor Robert Fertitta on piano. Rounding out the program are Druckman’s "Nor spell, nor charm" and Strauss’s "Death and Transfiguration, Op. 24." Organist Robert Fertitta is Head of Musicianship in the Conservatory of Music. He can be heard in his own continuo realizations on the fortepiano in an award-winning recording of the complete music for strings of Mozart, on the Newport Classics label, and as organ continuo player in sacred works of Scarlatti and Porpora. A recent recording, "A Canticum Novum Christmas," features Fertitta as the organ and piano accompanist for the Canticum Novum Singers in a program of music spanning seven centuries. He received his musical education at Hunter College, Queens College and L’Ecoles d’Art Americaines in Fontainebleau, France. The Orchestra is conducted by Jesse Levine, Professor of Viola and Chamber Music and Chair of the String Department at the Yale School of Music. Mr. Levine has held the positions of Music Director and Conductor of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra (1981-2001), Orquesta del Principado de Asturias in Spain, Chappaqua Orchestra and the Feld Ballet. The Purchase Symphony Orchestra features students from the School of the Arts, Conservatory of Music at Purchase College.
