The Night of the Iguana is set in a seedy coastal Mexican villa, where several lonely souls find themselves riding out the storm. At the center is a defrocked, detoxing reverend with a broken-down busload of randy church women and an unshakable spiritual crisis. Tempted by one woman, lusted after by a widow, and denied and inspired by a chaste spinster, he straddles an essential human dilemma of how to lead a moral life and remain a sexual creature.

Director A. Dean Irby is Associate Professor of Theatre Arts at Purchase College. He has acted and directed on Broadway and Off Broadway, for the New York Shakespeare Festival, Negro Ensemble Company, and Crossroads Theatre, and for many regional and university theatres. A former acting coach for The Cosby Show, he has appeared in more than 30 television commercials. Irby is also the recipient of two Audelco Awards for directing. The Purchase Repertory Theatre features students from the School of the Arts, Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film at Purchase College in bold and exciting interpretations of classic and contemporary plays with professional directors.
