Naaman was part of Ravinia’s summer conservatory, the Steans Music Institute, where he attended master classes by musical luminaries, had daily coaching with the institute’s faculty and performed concerts of original music at the Ravinia Festival just outside Chicago.
He was born in Israel and started playing the saxophone at age 10. As a member of the army in Israel he was a lead Alto Saxophone player in the Israeli Air Force Band.
After he came to the United States, he earned a degree at the Berklee College of Music and a this past June graduated from Purchase with a Masters of Music degree in Jazz Studies. While at Purchase, he took part in the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead music residency at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. There he was mentored by Dr. Billy Taylor, Nathan Davis, Curtis Fuller and George Cables and performed in concert at the Kennedy Center.
