New Passage Gallery Opens, Presents Student Art Work

Purchase students have a new professional interdisciplinary media gallery to display thier work to the public. The Passage Gallery is located across from the Performing Arts Center entrance. Details.

The Passage Gallery is a high tech extremely flexible gallery space for the media-based art displays that will be shown there.  It contains a free standing wall system in the 85' X 25' area that is equipped with WiFi, and plenty of power and data outlets. Two large monitors in the front windows have signage and motion graphics announcing the exhibits.


The concept for the gallery was developed by a team from Campus Technology Services, the Neuberger Museum of Art, and the Performing Arts Center.  They worked with students and faculty from the Community Design Program and Arts Management program to develop a name, brand identity, and marketing campaigns with web and social networking sites. 


The inaugural shows have included: the New Media Senior show; Cinema Studies and Media Studies and the Arts; and Art + Design/MFA and Art History/MA. The artists include: Alex Branch, Andrew Bucsis, Courtney Childress, Jen Dawson, Aaron Krach, Gabi Lewton-Leopold, Ian McDermott, Jon Price, Annabel Rhodeen, Margaret Rizzo, Bradford Smith, Katherine e. Smith and Glenn Wonsettler.


A steering committee is planning current shows and an Exhibition Committee will curate future shows and manage the ongoing operation of the gallery.
