Tony Award Nominations for Three Purchase Alums

Actress Edie Falco '86, and lighting designers Brian MacDevitt '80 and Kenneth Posner '87 were nominated for 2011 Tony Awards. Details.

Actress Edie Falco, starring with Ben Stiller in House of Blue Leaves, was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role.  She has received many awards including Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

 

Brian MacDevitt was nominated for Best Lighting Design of a Musical for The Book of Mormon. He has previously won four Tony Awards and a Drama Desk Award.

 

Kenneth Posner received a nomination for Best Lighting Design of a Play for Merchant of Venice. He is a Tony Award winner for his earlier work and the winner of Drama Desk and Obie Awards.  Purchase senior Greg Solomon of Theatre Design Technology had the good fortune to work with Ken Posner on the Merchant of Venice.

 

The Tony award ceremony will be broadcast by the CBS network on June 12 beginning at 6 PM.  The awards are presented annually to theatre professionals for distinguished achievement.
