French Festival at Purchase This Week Mar. 18-20

Screenings of the latest French films and discussions with top directors, producers, and actors from France will take place at The Performing Arts Center on March 18-20. Click for details.

Focus on French Cinema is celebrating its 7th anniversary at Purchase as it presents a weekend of French films with international scope. The popular event is dedicated to creating an awareness of French cinema and is presented by the Alliance Francais of Greenwich in partnership with Purchase College


A preliminary schedule calls for the first American screening of such films as Copacabana starring Isabelle Huppert, and Chicas written and directed by internationally acclaimed playwright Yasmina Reza.  For information


The opening night film, Copabana is a comedy in which Isabelle Huppert as Happy-go-lucky Babou struggles to reinvent herself in order to regain her daughters respect.


Another comedy Qui a Envie d'etree Aime tells the story of a 40 year -old happily married and successful father and lawyer and his earth shattering encounter with...God!


Filmmaker Marc Esposito will be on hand to speak about his latest film Mon Pote, a dramatic comedy that focuses on male camaraderie. 


Mia Hansen-Love will be at the festival to discuss the making of her film Le Pere de Mes Enfants, the story of a charismatic and successful film producer and family man, whose life on the surface inspires, and hides the cracks that are fissuring its structure from all sides.


Coline Serreau will talk about her new documentary concerning environmental issues, Solutions Locales pour un Desordre Global (Think Global, Act Local).
