Cyrille Aimee, headlines an evening at Smalls Jazz Club with fellow Purchase Jazz Program alumni Spike Wilmer, Joel Frahm and Anat Cohen Jan. 9.
Ben Ratliff of the New York Times highly recommends Cyrille Aimee, a French singer now living in New York, who is a regular at Smalls in the West Village. Last October she placed third in the Thelonious Monk competition. Ms. Aimee performs jazz improvisation and ballads with fellow Purchase alums Spike Wilmer, the pianist who manages the club, saxophonist Joel Frahm, and clarinetist Anat Cohen.
