Community Service Students Head to to Austin, Texas During Semester Break

Two chaperones from Residence Life and 14 students will work with Out Youth, a Texas youth organization that provides mentoring services and a safe haven where young people can safely and openly explore and affirm their identities. Click for details.

The specially selected group from Purchase will be in Texas January 15-22 to provide tutoring, fitness, assistance with peer support groups and they will organize community events such as potluck suppers and a block party.  They will also promote the Gay Straight Alliance.  Out Youth is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2010 and is the only organization in Central Texas to provide services and programs for LGBTQ ( gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth).
